NORTHWEST DYNAMITE CROWNED SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The explosive power of North West Dynamite saw the outfit from the North West Coast become the State Champions for the first time. In the Super League's second year it was North West Dynamite who completed their fairytale of finishing top of the pile by winning an exciting final against Derwent Storm 4-3 after surging home at the end to snatch the victory.

Derwent Storm led through out the game but a very patient, structured and talented Dynamite team showed why they have been the team to beat and finally cracked through the determined and disciplined Storm defense.

Two goals from league MVP Sean Howe and one each from Isaac Turner and Captain Matt Smith saw the visitors home while Matt Chapman, Corey Smith and Aaron Marney replied for the home side.

"The boys really worked hard and we would like to thank Futsal Tasmania for putting this event together, we hope to see you all next year" said Matt Smith, who was visibly ecstatic as were the rest of the Dynamite squad after the game.

It was fantastic to see a young talented side do so well and it shows that the new wave of Futsal player is breaking through.

"Congratulations to North West Dynamite who for me were the best side in the competition throughout and also the most committed, with 4 trips to the South and one also to Launceston through out the competition. It has been a fantastic achievement for your guys and although I am a touch disappointed that we have come 2nd again.... I am happy that a young team has won the competition for the sake of Futsal in Tasmania and where we are heading" said Storm Captain and Futsal representative Corey Smith.

It is the 2nd consecutive year that the Storm have been runners up in the final of Tasmania's premier competition.

The 2009 Tassal Super League has come to a close and we look forward to North West Dynamite defending their title next season.

In the Qualifying final 3rd placed Derwent Storm played one of their best games to win 11-10 over a Ricky Self inspired Zebras F.C outfit in what was one of the games of the season.
